NEW Volunteer Training Session!

10/6/16  5:30pm-8:30pm

10/7/16 12:30pm-3:30pm

Please join us for a new volunteer training session!  Our volunteers assist children/adults with disabilities participating in therapeutic horseback riding lessons.  You must attend a training session to begin your journey as a therapeutic riding volunteer.   All new volunteers are trained as Sidewalkers.

The primary function of the Sidewalker is to assist the rider in all phases of the lesson. Sidewalkers observe and interact with the client, and also serve as extra eyes and ears for the instructor.

Requirements: pass a background check, at least 14 years old (with parental permission), be able to stand/walk on uneven ground for the 1hr class duration

Please note: If you are completing volunteer hours for school, please ask if your timeline is appropriate for our needs.

Please RSVP your training spot…

All trainings held at our new location:

  2205 W Gibbs Rd. Spokane, WA 99224

Volunteers are an essential part of the Free Rein team. We could not operate our programs without them. Our class schedule is typically Tuesday through Saturday and 160+ lesson volunteers are needed to assist staff in Adaptive Riding and Military Horsemanship Programs.
